Take a little magic, sprinkle it all over a drum set, lovingly spritz with some ‘meenahral’ water.

You get Fandy, the drummer.

drumroll, crashes and a few loud Whoo hoooooos

You see, my friends, life, reality, is not quite thaaaat simple.

For one magical night to mark the end of his two week stint with us, Fandy dazzled with his wit and charm. One wonders if at very first drum lesson, every beginner drummer (who would some day be part of a crazy band such as The UnXpected) were told that however busy the gig gets, however good or bad the gig may turn out to be, however big or small the crowd may be, it just takes a few words from the drummer to really get the crowd going.

A few words, turned into a mini stand-up for our dear Fandy. I was on the floor, gently clutching my guitar, almost in tears. Let’s just say that it was genuinely (excuse the pun) “UNXPECTED”!

For someone with little experience playing in the club situation, Fandy has the stage persona of a true entertainer. We didn’t ‘find’ him from somewhere, Fandy (drummer from The Great Spy Experiment) is a good friend of Joan’s (she’s recommended we try him out at least once), and as with all our sessionist friends who are somehow available at the right time when we ask for help, have that special ‘connection’ with the band from the first practice session on, in order to make it through to the rest of the night.(We always have very, very little time to practise with sessionists, if any at all.)

All musicians are different in their own unique way. Fandy may not have been able to play a lot of the harder rock stuff that we normally do (which, by the way, takes hours of practice for each song, and we didn’t have the luxury of time to practise with Fandy) but he sure made us groove along to the beat and won the hearts of the entire band (yes, The UnXpected).

We’re a little sad to see him go…

Thank you, Fandy. You’re a STAAAAAAAAAR!!
