Francis, our living a breathing tree on stage at Balaclava is indeed very alive.

-He sheds.

-Was leaning towards the girls on Wednesday. Joan and I genuinely thought he might fall on us at some point.

-Has moved a few steps away from the front of the stage, is quite unfriendly to bassists. Now Asri has very little space to sit on stage…

-Loses his balls every few minutes.

We had such a fun time last nite at Wala it almost makes Bala not worth fretting over.

Happy birthday to Stephen Christian. ( Steee…wen….) Thanks for your rendition of God is Dwelling in My Heart!

Happy Anniversary to Eve and Trevor. (with their respective spouses)

We look forward to meeting more peeps this saturday, peeps who might just pay the $20 cover charge which includes a half pint of beer and some party stuff.

To our regular groupies who might be having your own parties somewhere else, Happy Last Minute Shopping and we’ll see you when the crazy weekend is over.. that’s if you’re not coming to Wala.

Thanks to the nice individuals for your little presents, I shall keep the ‘tradition’ and wait till sunday to open them!

Hugs all around. Especially to the chio girls. Whoo hoo!

I just thought I’d write about my band.

I’ll start with Brandon cos he’s like my little bro.

Brandon was discovered when I went to his gig with his band Aphelion. My jaw dropped to the floor when these guys played Dream Theater covers along with their originals. Brandon has been giving me lots of inspiration with his passion for progressive rock.

In fact we are going to the Dream Theater concert together come January!

Brandon also makes a good photo subject.

Bran's essense of chicken
Bran’s essense of chicken!

suave gangster
looking suave and gangster at the same time..

hair Khoo
Isn’t afraid of any hair day..

portnoy
Pretends to be Portnoy for a sec in Wala..

curry
Eats curry with tissue on his face to stop the sweat from getting into his food…

wedding
Sings back-up at Terence’s wedding, making sure his shirt is open…

hair 2
Used to have long hair…

present
Get’s the best birthday present (Alan’s nipple)

twins
Has a twin brother!

This drummer of mine is never without a smile, always the best person to be around if you are down. No airs, always up for a challenge (except alcohol and some types of food) and ever so willing to teach, yet sees himself as a student in life.

I’ve learned much and I am still learning.

Good to have you with us, Bran. We have a long way to go! m/

Friday :

Friday at Muddy Murphy’s was the most amazing friday The UnXpected had played in a long time.

There were people singing along from the front to the back. There were people DANCING to the violin during the irish tunes and some of our other stuff during the last set.

We felt like we made a difference. It was no longer us going through the motions just to end the night.

We gave ‘em TWO last songs but it wasn’t enough.

We ended with We Will Rock You. (Queen)

The sound coming out was less than desired but the vibe the crowd created made us forget that we had limitations cos of the low ceiling. The screams coming from the Cowboy Barflies will ALWAYS be ever so comforting.

Thanks for the rockin’ nite, my friends!

Sunday:

Colin seemed a little nervous but he blended in well with the band. We perform as a five piece on sundays from now on, Rene will go back to guitars while Colin takes over bass. The guiness was excellent as usual.

The sound, like a curse on a sunday, decided to play a mean trick on us. It only happens on a sunday, only with The UnXpected.

Oh well, dunno why lar. Soundcheck again and carry on lor! :)
